The End of Dopetracks.com

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the shutting down of Dopetracks.com. After 9 solid years, we have finally accepted that there are simply no more resources to support or grow the community in a meaningful way.  It’s that time. Dopetracks has come to the end of the road and it’s time to pull the plug. Tuesday June 2nd is when we shut it down, and now it’s time to create a legacy for the community.

We need you to help us pull together the music that will remain on the dopetracks.com URL as a memorial of this amazing place, so we want you to nominate the tracks and beats that we feature on the site forever.

  • You have 4 nominations: a track and beat of your own and a track and beat by someone else.
  • Go to the track/beat page you want to choose and click nominate.
  • You can change your mind and nominate new tracks but it will replace your precious one and your most recent nominations

Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 1.42.03 PM

The site will go but the community won’t die. Go to the Facebook page, join and share your nominations.

  • Record a video to let people know where they can find you and we’ll share your shout-outs.
  • Share your music on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtags #MyLastTrack and #RIPdopetracks and let’s see if we can make some noise.

Your old music will be available on the site for as long as we can keep it up, but you really should go and download it as soon as possible. While logged in, go to the individual track or beat page for one of your songs and you can download each track.

I know you’ll have a lot of questions, but there just isn’t the manpower to deal with many requests, so ask questions on the Facebook page and we’ll try to give you answers.

  1. DT opened my eyes up in the music world. met a LOT of talented people that made me grow as a music artist, & I was lucky enough to collaborate with talented music artists as well. If it weren’t for DT, I wouldn’t be a part of the movement that I proudly represent, which is UNDERGROUND HIP-HOP CONNECTION (UHC), which is otherwise known as SHADOW SCHOOLS. A lot of memories here, & it is really sad to hear that the site has to come to an end. But then again, thank you to all of you that has been a part of this memorable musical journey.

  3. Dopetracks was like a university of hip-hop. You had beatmakers from around the world and hi calibur emcee’s from around the globe as well. It will always be my home and hip-hop residence. Hard to believe I made like three albums while on here. The element’s of hip-hop emcee’ing and dj’ing definately revolved in Dopetracks dot com. In all said and do respect i’m kind of glad you cut the bitch off life support mr. pink. Peace and respect to my shadow school crew which I held down and any other affeliate’s I collaberated with. 7. I am deeply saddened to see this site come to an end. I came on here on January 6th, 2008, when I was 12 years old, couldn’t speak a word of English nor could I make music. After two months of uploading random music I found on youtube that I liked, I was approached by Joe Bionic (micchecker) and he gave me FL 3.4 and Acid 6.0 and so thus my journey into the production world began on March 26th, 2008 (don’t ask me how I remembered the exact date lol). After or three months of failed attempts to produce a sound that was pleasing to the human ear, I was approached by Sickle Cellz, who, in under 2 hours showed me the how’s, the why’s, the do’s and the don’t’s of beatmaking. After that it’s history.

I won Most Improved Producer in 2008, in 2009 I made a beat called “Changes” which ended up getting used by Freeway (yes, the Roc-A-Fella Freeway) and in general worked more and more on my craft. 2009 was a fun year, no matter what anyone says, the beefs and the constant battles were fun, it was what made people stay, not to mention the fact that literally everyone was actively engaged into the community. I left DT in 2010 and came back in around 2012 but the site was already dead and it just wasn’t what it was before. Now fast forward 3 years later we are at an inevitable point in DT’s history, and that is it’s ultimate death. I, as many others, blame the release of 2.0 due to pulling us 10 steps behind while we should’ve moved 2 steps forward. But overall, the memories and the good times I had on this site will last me forever. Rest In Peace to Young G, BDouble & Robadon and much love to the entire community!

    1. I forgot to add, I learned how to speak English properly on DT and thus I am now able to study at an English-speaking University as a result. Furthermore, I have sold a lot of the beats I made and thus in the process even made money for my college tuition. That wouldn’t have been possible without DT as I have learned everything that I know on here. So once again, DT, thank you from the bottom of my heart

  8. I been a Dopetrack Vet since 2007. I was on the site religiously in the beginning. I made some great friends and met some really talented people over the years. I left the site around 2013 because it became filled with a lot of nonsense. But, Dopetracks still got my name and music out there and i connected with many people. Sad to see that it is coming to an end, but to my early crew from DT, and you now who you are, I am grateful to have met you all and those who i have worked with no how to reach me.

  11. I came on DT just to maybe drop a few verses and have a little fun. Never thought it would take over my life for a long, hot minute! So glad to still be connected online to many of the other fantastic people I met through here. Will I ever rap again? Well, before DT, I probably would have said no, and look what happened. Downloaded every track I could and will look back on the work I put in and the collabs I had with so many artists with nothing but pride and joy. Thank you, DT, and thanks to everyone who made it what it was. Salute! -Proph Murph

  12. I have to say that I saw this coming for some time now because the talent has dimished, and the heart is all but gone. I’m sad to see DT go, mostly because my support, all of my support came from this very place. I started out as a rookie, with bad chops, background noise, off timing; the whole nine, but all of the REAL DTOG’s built me into the person I am today. I want to shout out my biggest supporters Khanflict, LogictheDA, Sicklecellz, Watkinz, Consequence and last but certainly not least, my boy JLProof. It was their unmistakable talent that inspired me and I will never forget you all. #RIPdopetracks

  13. Damn, like they said we all knew it was coming. I came into my own on this site. I started as a rapper using other peoples beats, and became so focused on making my own beats to spit to, that I became known as a producer. This site taught me a lot about criticism. This site also provided competition that I miss and don’t find elsewhere. This will be the first website I ever missed for real! Forget #RIPdopetracks. #DOPETRACKSFOREVER

Meeting different artist from across the globe motivate me to keep making either tracks or instrumentals and to keep learning from my mistakes. I hope it did the same for some of yall. I hate to see dopetracks shut down like that for many reasons.. Memories with our music and it’s a good way to communicate or to collaborate with others.. Thanks for the network spot and thanks for the exposure you gave us .. Peace/respect to all.. SHADOW SCHOOL / UNDERGROUND HIP HOP CONNECTION 100% Hip Hop..

It truly was an honor to be apart of this wonderful experience, this inspirational groundbreaking website, this unforgettable community. All the beefs, all the love, all the hate… we surely all learned a great something about ourselves, about each other, about our world, our hip hop culture and most importantly, our music. ONE LOVE DT. Thank You for being part of my life.

  18. 2GUN5 here if the Govt. name confuses you.

Well….The inevitable has finally happened….Dopetracks has officially died.
It’s disappointing, but I’m happy I was a part of it.
I came in a year and a half after it’s inception, and was a part of some of the more memorable beefs, and Crews, namely Dirty Dutchmob, and of course House of Venom. There were some great times, and some times I’d like to forget about, but all necessary in my path to growing as an artist.
Almost everyone I speak to of a musical or friend relation, I met through DT, or someone I met on DT, to include the entire roster of House of Venom, and I will forever be grateful for that. I hope everyone continues to grow as artists, and accomplish their goals with there craft.

On a side note, I am currently planning on launching a House of Venom website, that will be complete with a community very similar to the DT format, that will include ratings systems, ranking systems, contests, and more, and I will be spreading the word when it is in place so that those who wish to, will have a community to join with familiar faces and sounds, and one that the community can build. So be looking for that, and Thank you DopeTracks for being such a big part of my musical life!
